Searching for Theophilus' parents & getting desperate! Theo was born 1817 or 1818 in Wayne County, North Carolina. He married, before 1838, Martha (Patsey/Patsy/Patisay) Pennington born abt 1819 in Duplin County, NC. They had 9 kids - Penelope Best 1837, Smithey/Smithy J. Best 1839, James H. Best Aug. 1842, Temperance/Tempy C. Best 1844, William Council Best 1846, Theophilus William Best 8 Mar 1849, Robert R. Best Dec 1850, Richard S. Best 1855, Martha Luphema Best 1858. I have tracked the family in NC Census from 1840 to 1880 (Buck Swamp & Grantham area). In 1830 Wayne, NC Census there are only 3 Best head of households listed with males of his age listed. Robert Best, Benjamin Best & Henry Best. Henry & wife, Smithy/Smithey (Sherrard/Sherard/Sherrod) Best are whom I think most likely to be his parents. Henry is the son of Benjamin Best & Mary Hardy. On several genealogies that I have run across Henry's brother, Theophilus W. Best, born abt 1799 or 1800 who married Nancy Jane Daniel is being combined with my Theo but they are two seperate Theo's ! Does anyone one have info on my Theo? Thanks
