Anyone who has Duplin County, NC records

I am researching the Marchant family who came from North Carolina to Warren County, Georgia about 1790. I am hoping others have Duplin County Books in their possession. The 1786 State Census taken April 1786 in Capt. Stallin's District shows a John Merchant. I believe this may be my husbands gggg grandfather. A John Merchant(also spelled Marchant) along with 3 sons-John, Isaac, Jacob, and either a son or grandson named Bryant Merchant(Marchant) arrived in Warren County, Georgia in time to be counted as a taxpayer in Warren County in 1790.

There are several deeds listed for a John Merchant in Duplin County, NC beginning with 1770 and continuing until 1786 when the record of a John Merchant begins in Wilkes County, Ga and then 1790 in Warren County. This may be "Our" John Merchant(Marchant) but I have no other proof. Does anyone know who this John Merchant might have been. There was also a Capt. Merchant in North Carolina but don't know if he was a John Merchant. I will appreciate any thoughts on this.
