I am searching for an Evans male , possibly John J. or Lewis, who married Sara Ramsey Meeks, Daughter of Thomas Ramsey of New Hanover County and widow of Cullen Meeks. In Thomas' will of 1813 he names one of his daughters Sara Evans and a grandaughter Purneal/Pemele Meeks. She is later called Milly in a deed.
In a book of abstracts of deeds from New Hanover Co., NC there is an entry for a deed of gift in which Thomas Ramsey gives cattle to his "grandaugher Milly Meeks Miner of Duplin" assuming that Miner means her legal age and not a married name. It continues "which cattle is now in the posession of John J. Even of Duplin". This would lead one to think that Sara remarried to John J. Evans of Duplin after Cullen's death.
Any information on Milly Meeks, John and/or Sara Evans would be appreciated.
