In Reply to: James MOODY age 45 &over in 1800 Duplin Co., NC census - who is he? by melissa1 of 585

Is there a possible link between this James Moody in Duplin Co., NC and a Thomas Moody b.c1770 who was supposedly born in Selma, Johnston Co., NC who married an Ann RHYLEY (sic? Riley/Reiley?)
I found at Rootsweb a webpage from about 5 years ago that gave Thomas' son as a Patrick MOODY b.c1810 in NOVA SCOTIA.
That Patrick Moody is in the 1850 Newburyport, Essex Co., MA census as being b.c 1810 in Nova Scotia a cooper by trade and his wife Jane/Jannet. From the Gloucester, Essex Co., MA VR's a lady found that he used the alternate name of "Parker" and then again its seen that way in the 1860 Gloucester, Essex Co., MA census. In the VR's of Newburyport, Essex Co., MA when his son William Moody was born, he used the name of "Patrick" Moody again?!
I did notice that Thomas Moody's wife Ann Rhyley, her Father's Name was also given as PATRICK Rhyley, so this is why I believe the son's name was probably Patrick and not Parker.

Patrick's wife's name was Janet MARTIN and she may have had a brother or a relative named Henry who was living next door to them in Gloucester.

Janet also stated in each census I found her in (1850 to 1880 I believe) that she was born in c1818 and in Nova Scotia as well.

Patrick and Janet (Martin) Moody's children were named Thomas, James, Simeon and William in 1850. (Wm. was born in March 1850 Newburyport, MA all others before him were born in Nova Scotia).

In the 1860 Gloucester, MA census a Mary E. or C. MOODY age 25 seamstress b. Nova Scotia was living with "Parker" Moody age 50 b. NS and wife "Jane" age 43 b. NS along with their sons named above.

By 1870 Patrick/Parker MOODY must have died because his wife "Jannet" MOODY age 51 b. NS is living with their son James M. MOODY age 24 fisherman b. NS and wife Anna age 23 b. NS and daughter Jennie MOODY age 7 months b. MA.
Living with or next door to them (hard to tell from this faint copy of the census) a John S. JAMESON age 41 fisherman b. Nova Scotia and wife Panthea? age 40 b. NS and family are there as well.

This name of JAMESON is of interest to me as well as it may be connected to my family.

I do not know if there is any connection between these two families in the North and the South but 2 websites I have viewed from Rootsweb have a lot of these same family members intermarried and they are all connected to my Ydna cousins (Moody family) and the same names are found within their Genealogies as well. Its all very spooky, and I cannot seem to find the common link.
If anyone can help I would be most greatful. I have posted more about this on the Moody page here at GenForum.
Thank You.
