Hi. There was a 1786 State Census but that was separate from the 1788 Tax list, which was what has been used as the 1790 Granville Co., Census because that year's census was lost. The 1788 Tax List/1790 Census includes the number of white & black polls and the number of acres. There apparently was a 1786 Tax List because I've seen trees which give family info from that list, however, it appears to have the same info as most tax lists, which is one reason I suspect that it may have been the 1786 Census that may have been quoted online. I haven't seen a 1786 Tax list online myself, although there are plenty of them online for 1755, and other years, including here: http://www.mindspring.com/~baumbach/index.html http://www.ncgenweb.us/ncgranville/data-idx.htm Deloris Notify Administrator about this message?
