Some notes on Letha/Leatha Ann Galloway wife of Ezekiel W Corn: Some notes I have on Leatha/Letha Ann Galloway wife of Ezekiel W Corn and her son Willia Noah Corn: Letheanna first applied 5 June 1877 and at that time she knew Ezekiel had died at Fort Rice, Dakota Territory on or about the 4th day of March 1865, of "disease not known to petitioner". She listed her three children born to Ezekiel. No mention is made in any of the pension papers of the son Millard F. Corn born abt. 1866. The "Widow's Claim for Pension" was signed by Jesse M. Corn who was Ezekiel's younger brother. Widow pensioned from June 13, 1877. She received $8.00/month and $2.00/month for the three children from March 7, 1865 to June 12, 1877. A total at that time of $1,826.40. Then commencing June 13, 1877 a rate of pension of $8.00 per month. In 1916 this was increased to $20.00/ month under the Act passed June 8, 1916. William N. Corn (her son) wrote several letters to the Pension Office advising of her death and questions about the pension, medical bills and undertaker's bill, a total of $70.00 of which the gov't approved $50.00 total. Casket was $40.00 and burial was $20.00. Her pension was approved for an increase to $25.00 per month Oct. 6, 1917. In a letter from Wm. N. Corn (date stamped Jul 10, 1918), he notifies the Pension Dept. that she has died and was buried on July 4, 1918. He also states that he is her only son.
