Thanks for your reply. Yes, this is the right cemetery. I had run across a couple of other articles on cemetery clean-up there and what you quoted is more recent and interesting. We visited there and the two sections are clearly different. We have found out that one of the stones in the upper cemetery is that of some of our people, although it's inscribed rather strangely. An older relative stated that Uncle William (William Newman, who made tombstones) "got the lettering all messed up." It is supposed to say "Odams" on the first line and "Dunlaps" on the second line. What it actually says is "ODA M S" and "DUNLAP S" with spaces. In the cemetery survey book for Henderson County, it is recorded as it is written, but with both names listed as if the surname is ODA, (i.e., Oda, Dunlap S. for the second name) but I have reported the error on the stone and it has been marked as the burial place of Henry Dunlap and, probably, his wife Lilly. There are reportedly six unmarked graves there, including the supposed Henry and Lilly. I believe at least two of Henry and Lilly's children did not survive infancy. Henry was born about 1808 and died after 1880. I assume some of the burials must be of members of the Odam family, too. I'm repeating this here because the forum probably has a different audience from that of the Henderson County cemetery survey book master copy.
Meanwhile, I'm still hoping to find more information on the Mill Pond Presbyterian Church. I have also inquired at the Presbyterian Historical Society with no luck in finding anything among their records so far. So, if anyone else knows about this church or where information might be found, I would very much appreciate any help.
Again, thanks for your contribution.
Carol
