A William and Amy Ashley were members of the Mattamuskeet Primitive Baptist Church in Hyde County, North Carolina, along with Willis Swindell in circa 1808. Willis Swindell's wife (unknown female at this point)would have been pregnant with their son Ashley Swindell at the time. Some researchers have speculated that this couple may have been Ashley's maternal grandparents.
Secondly, the only Ashley I found in the Hyde Co. 1810 census was a William Ashley. He was listed as having been born between 1765-1784, which was the same age range as Willis' second wife. If Ashley was her maiden name, perhaps this was her brother.
Does anyone have any information whatsoever on these folks?
FYI... Ashley Swindell was my 3rd great-grandfather.
