Hoping someone may be able to provide some insight for me on the Summers and Brawney familes from Iredell County.
Primarily looking for proof of father-son relationship between Thomas Summers Sr – born about 1727 in Prince Georges Co., and died about 1800 in Iredell Co, NC. and Thomas Summers Jr who was born about 1751 in MD. and died about 1826 in Bullitt Co., KY.
Thomas Jr married Mary Ann Brawney Feb 8, 1779 in Charles County, MD. Mary Ann was born abt 1750 and died in Bullitt Co., KY as well – date unknown, but presumed to be about 1830 or so.
It is not known if Thomas and Mary Ann lived in NC, but it is assumed they may have. Or they may have moved directly from MD to KY.
It is thought that although Thomas Sr died in Iredell Co., that he left no Will. There may, however, be Probate or other court documents establishing the father-son relationship.
I see on the North Carolina GenWeb site that the Brawney family is also associated with Iredell Co, so perhaps information on Thomas Summers may be found among the Brawney family history.
