Brevard's Co. - Revolutionary War

Does anyone know where Brevard's Co. of the 9th NC Regiment was organized? A Thomas Templeton served in Brevard's Co.If Brevard's Co. was organized in Southern Iredell Co where many Brevards lived in the Davidsons Creek/Coddle Creek area, it might be a clue that this Thomas was from the same area.
I am trying to determine if he might possibly be (1) a Thomas who shows up in a 1782 southern Iredell Co. tax list, (2) a Thomas in the Rocky Creek area of northern Iredell Co or (3) could he be the same Thomas who merely moved from south to north & married a Mary Wigfield in 1792 in southern Surry Co (Present day Yadkin Co)
Wording my quandary a 2nd way--I'm trying to determine if (1) there were 2 Thomas' in Iredell Co. in the late 1700's--one in the south & one in the north-- with the one in the north marrying Mary Wigfield & later migrating to SW VA or (2) one who moved from south to north, married Mary Wigfield & later ends up back in the south (Lincoln Co) in the 1810 census. Jay Norwalk in his latest book appears to lean towards (2). I feel either (1) or (2) is POSSIBLE but there's a greater PROBABILITY of (1).
Any help appreciated
