Posting #3 1850 census, Wolf Pit, Richmond, NC John Smith 38 (could be 58) Nancy 34 (could be 54) Judith 25 Elizabeth 18 This is the rest of the family on the 1850 census. The Judith listed is the same Judah Smith that I found in 1880 that no relationship was listed. She either died or married between 1880-1900. 1860 census, Rockingham, Richmond, North Carolina John S Smith 68 Judah C Smith 32 Elizabeth Smith 26 B W Smith 25 male John and Nancy either died or moved away bet 1860-1870. I can't find any marriage record for either of them. And I can't find Elizabeth after 1860. 1870 census, Williamsons, Richmond, North Carolina Wm Gibson 51 Sarah A Gibson 38 Nath N Gibson 21 Mary L Gibson 5 Sallie Gibson 2 Wm Z Gibson 3/12 Juda Smith 38 Keeping house Jennie Peel 18 Domestic servant (black) Tom Parker 17 Farm Labor (black) 1840 census, Rockingham, Richmond, NC John S. Smith 1 male 10- 15, 1 male 15-20, 1m 60-70, 2 fem 0-5, 2 fem 5-10, 1 f 30-40, no slaves 1830 census, Williamson's District John Smith 2 m 0-5, 1 m 5-10, 1 m 15-20, 1m 40-50, 1 f 0-5, 1 f 15-20, 1 f 20-30 I know this is the right one because I keep seeing the Smith family very close to the Gibson families- where Judah worked in 1870 You would need to research at the Courthouse to go back any further (ie wills and estates and deeds). You stand a good chance of finding something because they are an old, established family. Notify Administrator about this message?
