Hey again. Mary Ann Davis Brown died in 1924. My husband is a product of a Brown/Gunter marriage himself. He has her year of death but no day or month. I will see if he knows where she is buried and look at her tombstone. I will also ask him if he can get his fingers on some of the family tree that shows who Mary and David's kids where, etc.
I noticed you are researching a lot of family names on here. Just a tip when trying to research these old mountain families. In some families the children became ashamed of their roots and changed the spelling of their last name (for the sole purpose of being ashamed--to each their own, but it makes it harder to trace) for example: Greene and Green are pretty much the same family around here, some Mathis changed their last name to Mathews or Matthews, some Brown's changed their last name to Browne or Browning. I mention this because it is a well known fact in these communities, and has kept would be researchers from doing a through family tree. Just like the name Buchanan has two pronunciations in this part of the country. In addition, several of the old tombstones have a person's nickname and not their real name on the stones around here. Same problem when you look at old family bibles for the family tree--nicknames are listed. For example, I know of two Sarah's (one of which is my ggreat Aunt) who when they died the next of kin listed them cousin by their nickname of Sallie (I have no idea how you get Sallie from Sarah), but the death certificates will state the correct name and should be filed with the cemetery.
Hope some of this will help you in your searches.
