Phillips and Parnal in Johnston Co. 1784-87

The North Carolina State census of 1784-1787 shows Benj. Parnal and John Phillips next to one another in Capt. Whitney's Comp. (census taken by Jesse Tiner).

There is also a Jeremiah Parnal and a James Parnal in Capt. Isaac Hinton's District.

There is a John Philips, a Willm. Philips and an Alexr. Phillips in District 1 (census taken by John Stewart).

There is a Phillips family which intermarried with Parnal/Parnells and which lived in Darlington District SC and many counties in GA (Morgan, Newton, Fayette and others. I am trying to trace their whereabouts prior to their time in Darlington. At least one John Phillips (who was in Newton and Fayette Counties was born in NC.

Does anyone have information on Phillips and/or parnal/Parnell in Johnston Co. in the late 18th or very early 19th centuries?
