Patrick RIELY (sic?) recvd. a grant of land in 1784 Shelburne Co., Nova Scotia. There was also a Terrence REILLY who recvd. land in 1787 Port Roseway Har. W. of 200 acres. These men were part of a Loyalist list from the Rev. War and there was a notation that some of these men on these lists were from the NC Volunteers. It doesn't say specifically that Patrick or Terrence were of NC, but they might have been. Also on the list is a William MOODY who in 1790 received a grant of land in Sable River Shelburne Co., NS of 100 acres. Since Thomas MOODY who married Ann RILEY was later found in Shelburne Co., NS (he married Ann there in 1802), I think its safe to say that this is all the same family which links to the son Patrick MOODY found in the 1850 and 1860 MA census' with his wife Janet/Jane (nee MARTIN) and sons named - James, Thomas, Simeon and William MOODY.
