On 1860 Census Chatham County NC Newton Gilmore is listed as 2 yrs old son of Gurney Gilmore/Sarah Gilmore; 1880 census Chatham County Newton Gilmore is listed as 18 yrs old married to Nancy (38)with stepchildren Martha, Bird, Nannie BURNS; 1900 census Moore County/Sanford Township Newton Gilmore still shown as head 37 yrs old and Nancy Gilmore as wife 70 YRS OLD (NO THIS IS NOT A TYPO). Does anyone know anything about this family. Nancy Burns Gilmore was my gggrandmother I think.
I have not yet checked the 1910 census but this couple may have been in Lee County by then.
