bcr,

Have not worked on Pattishall line in a long time, nor do I have many details, but my gg grandfather was Alexander Wright Pattishall, son of Pleasant and Celia A. (Williams) Pattishall. Pleasant was the son of William and Mary Pattishall. Sorry no further information on William and Mary. I know that my gg grandfather married Mary Ann Baker, daughter of John and Catherine (McIvers) Baker. Catherine was the daughter of Little Daniel McIvers and Margaret (Monroe) McIvers.

According to my records Pleasant and Celia had three children: Alexander Wright, John Alston (never married), and Calvin G. Alexander Wright and Mary Ann (Baker) Pattishall (his wife) are buried at Jones Chapel on Colon Rd., Sanford, Lee County, NC.

Alexander was born 8/8/1839 (tombstone reads either 1831 or 1834)and died 1/27/1900; his wife Mary Ann was born 9/11/1839 and died 4/3/1906

I have some information on their children and siblings.

As for Pleasant and Celia, they are buried on the property of my great aunt who just passed away last month. Her daughter owns the property. The cemetery is just a small plot of land next to the old farm. There are no tombstones, just three fieldstones. I became interested in the family history when I was young, so fortunately I asked lots of questions and got to take pictures of the fieldstones. My great uncle identified each stone that belonged to each person and gave me the dates out of the family Bible. Here is what I have on them:

Pleasant was born 3/4/1802 and died on 1/15/1870
Celia was born 4/4/1803 and died on 12/5/1868

Their son John Alston (who never married) is also buried next to them.

Pleasant's siblings were listed as follows:

1. William Pattishall who had a daughter named Emily. Emily married Charles Culver.

2. Rebeca Pattishall who married Joseph Wicker and they had a son named Tom. (I am quite connected to the Wicker family in about 14 different connections, but have not started research on them as of yet).

3. Louise Pattishall who married John May Womble. Their children were Rhodes (nmn), Dora who married Adolphis Smith.

4. John Rhodes Pattishall who had a son Baldwin who married Euphemia Johnson, another son Tom who married Fannie Riddle, and another son Nathan who married Mag Wicker.

5. Ben Rhodes Pattishall who had sons Hawkins and Braxton. Braxton apparently lived in Hope Mills, NC. Don't know why the middle name was repeated from sibling listed above, perhaps a mistake in my records or in the Bible records. However, since your ancestor Alexander and my ancestor also had Alexander, perhaps this was something that was done in the family.

My information came from the old family Wicker Bible from years ago and my granny (who died 13 years ago at the age of 100) who left me notes, letters, tons of stuff to sort through as she researched the family extensively. I know that there is more stuff on the Pattishall's, but just have not gotten to it.

Do not have your ancestor as a sibling, so obviously there are more that I don't have listed. Do you have any documented source for your connection to Pleasant and Celia?

Would love to connect with you on Pattishall research!! Please contact me directly by e-mail if you can at mholley@cfl.rr.com.

I am sorry that I can't help you with where Pleasant's siblings might be buried. As he, his wife, and one of their children were the only know persons buried at the old Wicker homestead I suspect that they might be buried with a spouses' family plot somewhere in Chatham County.

I do know that the family was VERY Methodist and Presbyterian, so luck might find you with area churches.

There is a William Pattishall with wife Patsy buried at Zion (which is where a bunch of my family is buried as well). Don't know if he is William (brother to Pleasant) or not.

Also, Jones Chapel has many Pattishalls (all are part of our family - as my granny told me). I will list below what I have from Jones Chapel Cemetery.
