I did not find them in either Madison County or Buncombe County Heritage Books. I checked Buncombe County because Madison County was formed from part of Buncombe County and Yancy County in the mid 1800's.
I did find some Caldwell's in Buncombe County Heritage Book but not that far back.
I will keep the info and take it with me the next time I go to the library and see if I find anything.
