I can't find a name for his first wife. Only that they were married in Charlotte N.C. shortly after the Civil War.
They moved to Bell Buckle, TN (Bedford Co.)and had two daughters.Their names were Cora V. COGDILL and Tennie Josephine COGDILL,(I can't find her listed as Tennessee). When his wife died, he, his two daughters and a widowed sister(Emma JACOBS) moved to Parker County, Texas. This was about 1873. Cora married J.H. Holyfield on Feb 8, 1893 in Parker Co. TX. (Bk 4, p. 422, MR Parker Co TX). Tennie married Thomas Beck in Parker Co. TX. One of Tennies children, Lena Mae BECK Patterson (b. Nov. 15 1898) of Talihini(a), Oklahoma, supplied most of their family history through family bibles to Erma Carmichael who wrote the book, "A HISTORY OF COOK-COGDILL-TAYLOR and ALLIED FAMILIES" in 1984. You maybe could post on OK GenForum sites for descendants of hers to get the information you are looking for. Also, the Mormon Family Search site is good. And, go to Google and type in COGDILL Ancestry and you may find something there. Good Luck
