Thanks Kay and you're welcome. I check the Madison Co. site occasionally, along with others because I am still tracing families in several different locals. I just happened to check the same day you first posted your query. I know how hard it sometimes is to find that missing piece and if and when I can help with accurate information I do. At least I hope it's always good.

The Cogdills are in my maternal line. My Grandmother was Lockie Adeline COGDILL. Her father was Lenard Blackburn COGDILL. He was a cousin to Z.T. COGDILL. Lenards father James and Z.T.s father William H. were brothers, both being sons of William COGDILL II. William II, b. ca1784 in Lincoln Co. NC, was the son of William COGDILL Sr. b.ca175? in England. William Sr. fought in the American Revolutionary War as a private in the North Carolina Line. His service is documented and can be used (and has been) for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) if anyone is interested.

There is conflicting information on the move of Z.T. from TN to TX. One source has him and two small daughters arriving in Parker Co. Texas in 1873. Another has Tennie being born on Nov. 10 1875 in Bell Buckle, TN. I'll keep my eyes open for anything that would verify one or the other.

The 1870 census for Madison Co. NC shows Mariah COGDILL, Joseph COGDILL and Emaline COGDILL living with Hiram SEXTON, Mariahs Father.

Most of the information I have comes from the book "COOK-COGDILL-TAYLOR AND ALLIED FAMILIES" by Erma Carmichael who is also a descendent of William COGDILL. Her son,Tim Carmichael is still very active in gathering information and has had his mothers book reprinted. Mcdowell Publishing of Utica, KY sells it. I bought a copy and it is very informative. Book and shipping was about $45.

How does your line come down through the COGDILLS?
I live in Virginia and am also tracing PIERCES and JONES'.
