The Sams Family Association on Yahoo groups would like to take this opportunity to invite you to apply for membership.
You can apply at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SamsFamilyAssociation/ and the only information that we request is your name and location (state). Membership is free.
SFA is currently over 150 members strong with members from nearly every state and several countries. Our goal is to provide free records of the Sams family to all members to help further their research. Unlike other groups, we do not allow copying of members posts to other sites or "flaming" of fellow members. We also under no circumstances allow members to post their genealogy information for sell as we have a strong belief that family information is meant to be shared. We seek to provide a safe online enviroment for all our members.
Currently we have a discussion going on about "dead ends". Members are posting their "dead ends" which will be combined into a searchable database within the site in the hopes that together we can solve these mysteries.
Just today (Saturday, June 23, 2007) we have had three new photos, fourteen new files and 52 messages posted. In our files section you will find the books, "Sams Family of Virginia" and the "Sams" book by Lawrence Fobes, which are excellent starting points for everyone's research into the Sams family.
SFA also works in conjuction with our sister group, Old Buncombe County Research, where many other records on old Buncombe County families can be located. A link is provided on the SFA homepage to apply for membership into OBCR.
