I'm looking for a Joseph C Lancaster from Barnwell County, South Carolina. He was the son of Jesse Lancaster of the same county and the brother to my Lewis Larkin Lancaster. Joseph was interred at the Hart's Island POW camp in New York Harbor from 1864-1865. Lewis Lancaster was also present at the same time, but died in April 1865. Joseph was released in May 1865 and I have nothing else on him in Barnwell County.
The 1880 census for McDowell County, North Carolina shows a Joseph C Lancaster living in the home of his son, James W Lancaster. Does anyone have any information on this family?
Both Joseph and James show their birthplaces as SC.
