Have a John WHITE b 1818 m Elmira 'Mira' McGAHA, children included James b 1839 m Nancy (think she may have been a REED) and James probably died during the Civil War. Find James age 21 and wife Nancy age 29 on 1860 McDowell Census. May have had only one child Julia b 1861. Think Nancy and Julia lived with and worked for the Joseph NEAL family of McDowell Co from 1860's to 1880's.
Other children of John and Mira were, Thomas b 1843, Alfred b 1845, Angeline b 1848 (found her living in the 'Alms House' McDowell Co. in 1880, Elizabeth b 1852 m Jethro MORGAN and Martha b 1854 m Perminta MORGAN.
If someone has done research on, or knows about this WHITE family of McDowell County, NC, please let me know.
