Hi Family,
We have recently been working with the Helton, Hylton, Hilton DNA website. Our research has been out of a group of Hilton/Heltons from Stokes, Caldwell, Burke and we believe from other counties in that area. This family has surprised us all because they have tested Native American. We have many applications from the Helton/Hilton lines to the Cherokee Nation but only one person was listed on a ROll. At this point we don't think it would be possible to return to our Native Roots because of the way the Government set up the Dawes Rolls. However the Native American bloodline exist and has for over 5,000 years in the Eastern United States.
All Helton, Hilton and Hylton, please consider DNA testing and do the basic genealogy research starting with yourself. We would like to hear from you and can post your infomation for you.
We are currently using the Helton Family Genealogy Forum with Roots web. We are nearing the 3,000 mark of postings. I think you will find some very good information there and if you will post your line you may help someone else.
