I'm not related to this family.

Prior to the 1850 census only the head of household was listed on the census page. No place of birth was stated, no occupation was given, and no family relationship was stated. Others living in the home whether direct relatives, other family members or servants were enumerated by gender and then by age range - 0 and under 5, 5 and under 10, etc....

1880 census is the 1st census to show family relationships.
1850 thru 1870 give place of birth and current age.
