William Gallemore (ca 1731)

Hi Evelyn,
Thank you so much for the Gallemore information. Here is what I have collected concerning William Gallemore (ca. 1731, because he is paying taxes in 1752 in Lunenburg VA). As you can see the Gallemore's stayed in Lunenburg VA for several years, am not sure why they left and moved into North Carolina. I have long suspected that the early James, John, & William Gallemore that keep showing up together are brothers but could not find any proof. With the death of James & William's parents due to Indian attacks that explains the lack of a will or land transaction.

1763 Nov 28 Lunenburg VA bought land from Stephen Caudle (wife Mary), both of Lunenburg, 200 ac. 100 lbs. waters of Great Creek, adj. Thos. Harding, Matthew Laffoon, Nathl. Laffoon, wit. Nathal. Laffoon, Matthew Laffoon, Thomas Harding.
1764 Feb 3 Lunenburg VA, James Garrot (wife Nelly Garrett) to Joseph Hicks, both of Lunenburg, 100 ac. 50 lbs. adj. Oldom, James Malen, John Howel, John Howel, James Duke, wit. Nathal. Laffoon, Matthew Laffoon, Wm. Gallemore.

1772 Aug 10 Lunenburg VA Thomas Harding sold land to Nath. Laffon Jr. both of Lunenburg, 100 ac. 100 lbs, for of Great Creek, adj. Daniel Epperson, Wm. Gallimore.
1773 Sep 15 Lunenburg VA William Gallimore to Nathaniel Laffoon, both of Lunenburg, 10 ac. 100 lbs, branches Great Creek, adj. James Thompson, George Styles, Laffoon, wit. Joseph Turner, Matthew Laffoon, Thomas Taylor. signed by William Gallimore & Mary Gallimore.

1788 Nov 7 Rowan NC, The state vs William Gallemore, not guilty.
1790 Rowan NC Salisbury District, household head William Gallimore, 1 male 16 & up, 1 male under 16, 2 females.
1799 May 7, Rowan NC Peter Sumey (signed in German) to John Gallimoore for 5 lbs specie, 29 ac. on Flat Swamp adj James Briggs. Wit. William Grist. James Briggs, William Gallimoore. proved by Grist.
1799 Jun 7 Rowan NC, State grant 2563 @30 sh per ac. to William Galimore, 242 ac. on Flat Swamp adj. Thomas Sarratt, John Gallimore, Peter Summey, James Briggs, Frederick Goss, Joseph Brady.

1800 Rowan NC Salisbury head of household William Gallimore Sr., 1 male, age 45 & over.
1802 Feb 15 Rowan NC, James Riley, planter to Samuel Peacock, planter 150 lbs. 150 ac. on both sides of Four Mile Branch, adj. Francis Floyd and James Briggs. It was a patent to this grantor on 28 Nov 1792, wit. William Grist, William Gallimore, proved Grist.
1805 Jul 10 Rowan NC, James Bullard to Thomas Briggs for 10 lbs, 18 ac. adj. Simon Watson, Francis Floyd, wit. Richard Briggs, William Grist, William Galimore. proved by Richard Briggs.
1810 Surry NC, household head William Gallemore, 1 male age 45 & over.
1816 Nov 23 Rowan NC, Land, George Bullon to Thomas Hogans, 100 lbs, 134 ac on east side of Dutch Second Creek and on both sides of Reedy Branch, adj. Basinger. wit. William A. Gallimore, Henry Castor.
1820 Jan 7 Rowan NC, Francis Floyd's heirs sold land to Wm. A. Gallemore for $204.20, 120 ac. on Flat Swamp adj. Peter Summey. Signed William Joneson, Lockey Been, Frederick Coeman, John Floyd, Will Briggs, wit. Jno. Peacock, John Briggs. proved by Peacock.
1820 Rowan NC Battalions 2 & 4 or Lexington Side, household head William Gallimore, 1 male age 45 & over.
Perhaps the later entries belong to a son or nephew. I am still researching for proof. If anyone has corrections please notify me.
