Dear List,
I am trying to find info on John Robert Raley born abt 1787 NC. He married a Catherine Rossiter born abt 1796 MD.
My guess is that the Raleys came out of MD. John was in Livingston Co, KY, with John Gaskins for abt 20 years before thep made a move heading west. Gaskins stopped in Saline Co, IL. The Raleys continued on thru OH & IN before settling in Clay Co, IL. I don't know where John & Catherine may have been married. They had a son, James who married a Sarah Ann Shepherd abt 1836 in Tippecanoe, IN. They had John born abt 1821 married to Susannah Shepherd, William born abt 1825 married 2nd time to Elizabeth J. Shepherd, Vesta Ann married to Davis Foster, Sanford born abt 1835 & Marion born abt 1837 IN. There were marriages between Gaskins & Raleys in Clay Co, IL. John, Catherine, Vesta Ann & Davis Foster, Sanford & Marion packed up and headed west and settled in Linn Co, KS. They lived and died there. John abt 1861.
