Greetings! I came across your query regarding your grandfather Sawyer. I am more than willing to assit you in this. I am a descendant of some Sawyer's who settled in the Randolph Co., North Carolina area. Since Sawyer isn't a common name in this area, good chance we are related somewhere--somehow. I did a search for your grandfather on Ancestry.com and I find him living in Beaufort Co., North Carolina in the 1900 Census. In the census record, he is living with his grandparents. Listed in the household are: John W. Clayton, age 69, born about 1831, Clara Clayton age 63, born about 1837, John F. Clayton, age 22, born about 1878, Phebe Clayton, age 24, born about 1876, William H. Clayton, age 19, born about 1881 and Rodney W. Clayton, age 7, born about 1893. In the 1910 Census, he is living with his aunt and uncle. Listed in the household are: Jefferson Clayton, born about 1872, age 38, Blanche Clayton, born about 1887, age 23, Rodney W. Sawyer, born about 1893, age 17, William J. Kellie, born about 1882, 28, Arthur Corbett was born about 1890, age 20. I also found your great-grandfather listed in the World War I Civilian Draft Registration Cards: Name: Sawyer, Rodney Warren Birth Date: 26 Sep 1892 Birth Place: Aurora NC City/County: Dade State: FL Ethnicity: W If you need further assistance, please contact me and I am willing to help you. b.h.
