Searching for any Cureton Families of possible relations out of North Carolina
I know that there were several Curetons in the areas of Waxhaw, Durham, and Monroe who eventually came north to NJ and NY.
My Grandfather's name was Richard Cureton who last lived in Laurinburg North Carolina, but he passed away in August of 1998. His Parents were Harvey and Lula.....My Grandfather had 9 children (Elgiva -"my mother", Maryann, Hyder (deceased), Delores (deceased), Leon, Ruphenia, Elaine, Richard (deceased), Patricia (deceased)....all who originally moved from NC to the Newark NJ, and then moved on/and about the surrounding areas.
I only had the opportunity to meet his sister who is now deceased, that lived in Brooklyn NY named Elgiva whom my mom was named after. (I found that it was tradtion to name family after one another quite often amongst the Curetons)
His siblings included Willie Mae, Harvey, and Hyder, Elgiva, Geneva....not sure of other name....believe he had 12 siblings
