I am looking for information on my Burke - Yancy- Mitchell County, NC - 3rd Great Grandparents :
AARON GREEN - b: 12-July-1800 and ANNE BUCHANAN. After 3 years of extensive research I believe my ANNE BUCHANAN is the daughter of WILLIAM B. and ELIZABETH (JONES) BUCHANAN who was born 07-Mar-1802. A kind Bauchanan researcher shared
a typed copy of three old Buchanan Bible pages which listed the whole William Buchanan family with birthdates, etc.. Below the children's birthdates was the death date of ANNE BUCHANAN as 22-Oct-1829 and beside it was written - "died in the 27th (?) year of her age". This Buchanan family Bible is also known in later times as the "Naomi Spraks Family Bible" and I understand that a copy was made of all the family information the old Buchanan Bible contained before it was completely lost due to crumbling pages. Does anyone know where the full copy of these original bible records can be located?
This Bible information fits in with the other information I have been able to gather on this Anne (Buchanan) GREEN. I have tried to find a marriage record of my Aaron GREEN and Anne Buchanan ca 1820 Burke Co., NC but the only positive record that was found to prove this marriage took place, was their individual names, Aaron Green and Anne Buchanan - as the parents on their youngest daughters 1915 Indiana death certificate.
Aaron and Anne (Buchanan) Green had the following children all born in NC:
1.) Isabel Green (?) - b:ca 1821
2.)Lucinda Green - b: ca 1822
3.)Elizabeth Green - b: Sept 1823 (my gr gr grandmother)
4.)Martha Buchanan Green -b: 1824
5.)James Green -b: 1826
6)Mary Ann Green -b: 29-Aug-1827
Another bit of proof that these Green and Buchanan families knew each other was the Burke Co., NC marriage of Anne Buchanan's brother James Buchanan - b:18-Nov-1800 to Aaron Green's sister - Isabel Green -b:17-Aug-1803. Therefore it is reasonable to believe my Aaron Green and Anne Buchanan knew each other well. Any help on this Green / Buchanan connection would be so appreciated.
MCKINNEY / LEDFORD:I am also interested in locating the parents names and the Burke Co. NC marriage record of WILLIAM MCKINNEY to PHEBE LEDFORD ca 1815. I believe this couple had the following children in NC:
1.)Mary R. McKinney
2.)Sarah Caroline McKinney - -m- Daniel Childs
3.)Samuel McKinney -m- Melitia Tripp
4.)Rachel M. McKinney (?)-m- Robert Elliott
5.)Margaret McKinney
1835 Jennings Co., IN Guardianship records show Aaron Green being mad legal guardian of all the McKinney children listed above.
Husband / father William McKinney died ca 1829 in Burke Co. (now Mitchell) and on 18-Sept-1831 widow Phebe (Ledford) McKinney married widower Aaron Green (above). By 1834 Aaron and Phebe Ledford (McKinney) GREEN moved from NC to Jennings Co., Indiana where they had several children together. Sometime between 1850 and 1858 Phebe Green had died and husband Aaron Green remarried in 1858.
I have found and viewed many other virsions of the Aaron Green / Anne Buchanan family histories posted on Ancestry.com at Rootsweb - etc.. I would really appreciate hearing from anyone interested in researching this family.
