Families in Onslow before 1790 from New England

In 1790 Onslow census are: Betty Rose 3 females, Martha Rows 2 females, Elizabeth Rows 1 male child & 2 females, Diamiah? Rows 1 male over 16 & 1 female. We have found that my Rose line in Plymouth Colony by 1653 had come to NC very early. Probably with their Bumpus cousins, Job Bumpus in New River 1730-1746. Was there a New England Colony on Cape Fear River about 1660? Is there any information on who was there? The connection between the Plymouth Colony Roses & the ones to North Carolina is by DNA. We do not have forenames of the 1st ones to NC. What records should we be looking for. There are quite a number of surnames same as the ones in Plymouth Colony and in 1790 NC Onslow census. Does anyone have similiar NC & Nwe England connections.
