Bill/Jenny: Perhaps you know that Gregory Thomas was the son of William Thomas and his wife Celia (believed to be a Gregory), both of whom appear to have died in Duplin about 1820-22. Among Gregory's brothers was a William Thomas [b. before 1782, but not yet 21 at that time]. Some researchers incorrectly list Elizabeth Kay as the second wife of William [d. 1820-22], but this is clearly incorrect as Celia joined him in a gift to Gregory in 1814. Thus, if William [the son] was married to Elizabeth Kay, and she was the "Elizabeth Thomas" who left Marquis something, Gregory would be Marquis's uncle. There do, however, seem to be other possibilities. The gift in the will looks more like one to a brother, not a son. If either of you have documentation that Gregory's mother was Celia Gregory, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Kay [kinglisb@msb,com]
