Looking for William Coltrain, 1760

William Coltrain of North Carolina is mentioned in a guardianship document as the father of my ancestor John Coltrain. I have been led to believe that it might be Cartaret or Onslow County where the Weeks family were living.
When I was in NC, I found a deed from "Joseph Bray to William Collins for 100 acres ackn. by sd. Bray" and to be registered in the Onslow Co. Court min Feb 1761. I also found "Joseph Bray gave to his son-in-law Nathaniel Wells and Sarah, his wife, during their natural lives 100 acres of the land whereon I now live, marked out for Wm Cotlins. Tests: Wm. Cray" 8 Sep 1766 in the Deed Book H 1767-1769.
I wonder if anyone has a Collins living in this part of NC at this time? Or is this a miss-spelling of Coltrain?
