The mouth of New River in Onslow County, NC, is near Sneads Ferry, passes through Camp LeJeune Marine Base and continues by Jacksonville, towards Richlands, and a little further north. As far as I known that has always been the name. I was born in Holly Ridge and grew up in Richlands.

there is anothe New River in the northwestern part of NC, which is often confused with the one in Onslow County.

The court houe for Onslow Precinct was once at Courthouse Bay which is not on the Marine Base.

Hope this helps. I cannot help you with the names you mentioned.
