Jerry .. My ggggrandfather JAMES TAYLOR obtained the first land grant in 1754 to 640 acres on St. Mary's Road that includes the land location where Maple Hill is located. Within a few years ISAAC JACKSON obtained land grants for large tracts that bordered TAYLOR'S property on three sides. TAYLOR and JACKSON were both Quakers who immigrated from Antrim Co.,Ireland about 1728 to Chester Co., PA, then to Orange County, NC about 1748. While I have good documentation on this information, it is probable that JACKSON (your ancestor?)subsequently acquired all/part of TAYLOR'S land. Further research would probably yield a deed of this transfer. I hope this helps your search for Maple Hill's history. On one visit to Hillsboro I visited Maple Hill and have good exterior photos. It is amazing that the original home structure was so well preserved and that the more modern addition so complimented the original structure. Good luck on your research.
