Hello Ben Hudson...
My name is Jack Howard, and I was born and grew up here on Hampstead , N.C., and have been here since 1762 (The family has). I went and graduated at the old Topsail H.S. here. Some of my gcood friends are Smiths, that has been here for many years. Mr. Ramp Smith was early on from the outer banks, and his wife was a Davis, from Davis N.C. up in the outer banks of N.C. ....Too, my Howards were from Jamestowne Virginia (their gateway ancestor was), and all of this Howard family came thru Virginia as many of the early families did . I have lists of the Jamestowne 3 colonies, of which my John Haward (Howard) "Clerke" who worked for the "Fish Monger" Bennett, on his Plantation, to help pay for his trip over from Saffron, Walden , Essex , England, and on back......et. al.
There were several Smith Families, or the same family , I suspect....One of the earliest to get to America...Be glad to send you anything I have, encluding my Howards, and 2nd colony list for your scrap book, and to use as a time line as you like....HJack822@juno.com Jack Howard....I also have about 7 or 8 generations of this Smith Family which I put on a "Genie Walking Stick" and gave couple to my friends..... My Aunt Norma Smith Reeves, married my mothers brother Garrett Reeves, of Haywood Co. N.C.
I have just today put all of the names of different families and no.`s I have on the different families forum on this Gen. Forum....check it out for other names.....
