I would suggest that you check out the lists at Jamestowne, Va. there were numerous Smiths in the Jamestowne lists. I have the lists and will gladly send you a copy via e-mail as you let me know address....I too, am thru Jamestowne, as my Gateway Ancestor got to America in 1621.
I live at Hampstead N.C., and family got here in 1762. I am friends with a Smith Family that I can get and give you back several generations....I though, feel that all the early Smith Family came thru Virginia, and are related...et. al.
