Hello Joe, My line of Corbitt/Corbetts are from Pitt County. I have it spelled Corbitt on the documents from the Pitt County Court House, it seems to be spelled differently depending what you look at. My GG Grandfather James W. Brewer, married Lizina Corbitt (possibly M Lizzina Corbitt; M for Minnie?) March 14, 1872. The Marriage Register Book in the Pitt County Court House list her parents as A. C. Corbitt and Polly Corbitt. The 1860 census has her listed living with A J and wife M R Corbitt. There are two other females there also D L and A E Corbitt. 1870 census shows Jackson Corbitt, wife Mary R, Lizina, Lafayette, Della, Oliva, and Jackson Corbitt. The census information has her birth date as 1852. Would this maybe tie in with your Corbett family? This is a very hard family to follow, there are quite a few in the Falkland area where my family comes from. Thanks for your help, Jennifer in Pitt Co NC Notify Administrator about this message?
