Hello,
I'm looking for info concerning the family of Adam Stuart/Stewart (spelled both ways) b: 12 Dec 1877 in Person Co., NC. He was Native American. His wife, Elizabeth (also NA) was born in Halifax Co., VA. They traveled back & forth over the NC/VA borders. I have tracked him through the following records:
1880 Census Halloway, Person Co., NC (Adam Stuart)
1900 Census Black Walnut, Hallifax Co., VA (Adam Stuart)
1918 WWI Draft Registration Person Co., NC (Adam Stuart)
1920 Census Holloway, Person Co., NC (Adam Stuart)
Sometime between 1920 & 1930 Adam moved to PA
1930 Census Garrett Hill, Radnor Twp., Delaware Co., PA
1942 WWII Draft Registration Garrett Hill, Radnor Twp., Delaware Co., PA
Adam & Elizabeth had the following children:
Luther L. b: 1901 Halifax Co., VA
Besselle "Bessie" b: 1905 Halifax Co., VA
Harry b: 1907 Halifax Co., VA
John Charles b: 1909 Halifax Co., VA
Hamlet b: 1910 Person Co., NC
Alice Frances b: 12 Aug 1915 Halifax Co., VA m. Levi P. Balch in PA
Bertha b: 1918 Person Co., NC
Martha b: 1920 NC or VA
I have read about the Sappony tribe and the seven families, one of which is 'Stuart/Stewart' and I believe Adam is a descendant of this family. I'm hoping to connect with others researching this family. I want to find Adam's ancestors, who are Elizabeth's people are and any info on their descendants. If you can assist in anyway, I would love to hear from you.
