I do not know to what extent you have researched the family here in Pitt County. Here are some brief notes that I have been given. I have more if you wish to contact me privately.

A family of the name, residing in North Carolina , during the Revolutionary War, contributed a commissary to the army, and two members to the Provincial Congress: Robert Salter , from Pitt County , 1775; Edward Salter , from Pitt County , and William Salter , from Bladen County , delegates to the Provincial Congress, 1774, in North Carolina .

Edward Salter, Bath County, NC shipper and merchant ( - 1734); he owned the brigantine The Happy Luke, which he insured with an early underwriter (Boston?). His son, Edward Salter (Jr.) opens merchant business in Pitt County during 1762 - 1768.
