Patricia,

According to "HENRY CAVINIS - Additions & Corrections" - by Alloa Caviness Anderson [1996] She writes:

William Caviness, was b. in North Carolina abt. 1765, the son of Matthew and Ann Caviness. He d. in Mecklenburg Co., VA. ca. 1794-5.

It has been determined that he married Sarah CARR (Kerr) the daughter of Joseph and Phobe Kerr. She was b. ca. 1771, place unknown, and d. in Randolph Co., NC before Nov. 1803.

Their minor children were identified in Court papers in Randolph Co., NC.

The older children were: William b. ca. 1781
John b. ca. 1782
Mary (Polly) b. ca. 1783
Benjamin Sanders b. ca. 1788
Elizabeth b. 9 Jan. 1790
Susanna b. ca. 1792

I hope this helps.
