In 1885, William Lawrence Huntley and wife, Sarah Jane Collins sold their land in Rutherford County and moved to Gurton in Henderson County. W. L. Huntley died on May 3, 1899 and was buried in Bear Wallow Cemetery in Henderson County. In the 1900 Census of Henderson County, widow Sarah Collins Huntley was living with her daughter and son-in-law, Riley H. Wall in Edneyville, Henderson County, NC. It is reported by the family that Sarah wanted to be buried in Rutherford County with her own people. Family lore has it that she was living with her daughter, Lucinda Huntley Bradley and Jason Bradley when she died (We think in 1902). Lucinda Bradley is buried at Bethany Church in Rutherford County and there are several unmarked graves beside her grave. We believe one of these may be Sarah Jane Collins Huntley. Does anyone know the death date of Sarah or where she is buried.
