William and Frances Bates in 1837

I am looking for the ancestors of William Bates and Frances Stokes who were married in Rutherford County, NC in 1837 and was wondering if anyone has any information on this family. Their daughter Mary Jane Bates, my 2nd gr. grandmother, married Leroy William Adair, my 2nd gr grandfather, in 1860 in Rutherford County. I haven't been able to find out much about the Bates or Stokes families. Thanks.
