I'm not related. FYI - Effective January 1, 2008, the Division of Vital Records will need proof of identity for all individuals requesting a birth or death certificate. These new requirements are based on legislative changes that occurred during the 2007 North Dakota legislative session. The new changes restrict access to birth and death records as a preventative measure against identity theft and fraud. North Dakota was carved out of the northern half of the Dakota Territory and admitted to the Union as the 39th state on November 2, 1889. FYI - The first law requiring registration of births and death in North Dakota became effective July 1, 1893, but was repealed in 1895 and not re-enacted until 1899.
