James Marion SCHOONOVER (1859-1943) married Barbara HOWELL (1856-1938) on 7 Jul 1885 in Cass Co., IL. James and Barbara with their children Arthur Elmer, Ella Grace, Itha Mae, Gertrude Belle and Harry Omer traveled by covered wagon from Cass Co., IL to Butler Co., NE in about 1900. James SCHOONOVERs brother Jacob Henry SCHOONOVER may have traveled with them. One year after Barbara HOWELL died in 1938, James SCHOONOVER married Nettie Ann (CUPPY) BRIGGS. Nettie was Barbara HOWELL’s neice; the daughter of her sister Mary F. HOWELL and Benjamin CUPPY. At that time James was 79 and Nettie was 73.
