Joyce, I believe your William, who doesn't seem to age correctly from one census to the next, is the son of Israel BLAIR b. abt 1805 Ohio co VA (now WV) d. bef 1 Jun 1850 in Monroe co OH and Huldah HATHAWAY b. 2 Jan 1807 Belmont co OH d. 7 Oct 1891, Hardin co IA, bur. Hazel Greene Cemetery, Etna Twp, Hardin co OH. I have been unable to find Hulda in the 1860 census, William is not living with her in the 1850 Switzerland Twp Monroe co OH census. However, in the 1870 Hardin Twp, Hardin co IA census p430, Hulda is family #12, daughter, Mary Blair Smith and husband, James are family #11, #13 is William Blair, 32; Mary,35; Florence,8 b. OH; William H. 3 b. OH; Joseph, 1 b. IA, all of the children fit the 1880 Butler co NE family. Israel BLAIR was the son of Joseph BLAIR and wife Mary, unknown surname. Joseph d. aft 1 Jun 1850 in Monroe co OH. Joseph was the son of James BLAIR and his unknown first wife. James BLAIR is my husband's 3rd greatgrandfather by the 2nd wife. James left a will in Ohio co VA/WV and d. on 16 Aug 1824 in Ohio co. He was b. 16 Jul 1752 in VA and we believe through a recent test submitted to the Blair DNA project that James' parents were Brice Blair and Susanna. Brice died in Bedford co PA in 1785. On the HATHAWAY line, Huldah's parents were Robert HATHAWAY and Mary KING. I believe Huldah moved to Hardin co IA with some of her HATHAWAY relatives. E-mail me if you wnat more dates, etc. Jan
