Lou,
Albert Johnson Stafford is my 2nd great-grandfather. I have lots of information on him, including his Civil War Pension Record. Albert's 1st wife was Anna Eliza Bellows, they were married March 6, 1858 in Oakwood, Illinois. They had 4 children, Sarah R., Albert Cornelius, Alice A. and Roxanna Stafford. Anna Eliza Bellows died October 4, 1867. Albert Johnson Stafford remarried to Tabitha Ann Pigg on March 11, 1869. They relocated to David City, NE approximately 1871. Albert and Tabitha had 9 children: Mernie Loran, Winnie Ethel, Ernest Elmer, Almeda May (Mathewson), Etta Coon (Moss), Leonard Lewis, Flossie Berniece, Floyd Weston, and Laurel Weldon Stafford. According to genealogical records of Floyd Weston Stafford, Albert operated the first bakery in David City, also the first laundry service, though I found no other records to substantiate this claim. Albert Johnson stafford was born 8/30/1839 in Hartland, Somerset, Maine. His father and mother, Jacob David Stafford and Roxanna Starbird Stafford migated from Maine to Illiois about 1851. Albert served in the Civil War, 78th IL Vol Inf, Co. C, enlisted as a Private, mustered out as a Sergeant, July 12, 1865. He led a colorful life. Albert died May 23, 1917, in the Old Soldier's Home at Grand Island, Burkett, Hall, NE. He is buried in the David City Cemetery. Hope this helps.
