Hello,

I am looking for family/descendants of John J. Teten, here is an article about remodeling of his old home from Nebraska City News-Press, Feb. 24, 1952, Feature Section, Page 1, with 4 photos with article.

Title:

Teten's Century Old Home is Remodeled

Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Teten, 117 North Twentieth street, recently remodeled and built onto their home. The original structure was built by Mr. Teten's grandfather, John J. Teten more than 100 years ago.

The north half of the house, which contains three bedrooms and two baths is the original house. The new wing on the south includes the living room, dining area and kitchen.

One enters the living room through an east entrance. The dark gren walls are highlighted by a light ceiling and the use of chartreuse and red as the accent colors. Slip covers are of light material, harmonizing with the white grey black and chartreuse in the drapery material. Along the west wall of the room is a fireplace, built in a natural stone wall. The fireplace is flanked by open bookshelves. The rug is maroon and furniture is in dark woods.

The dining area to the west of the living room features a large picture window on the west covered by drapes to match those in the living room. The rug there is a cocoa brown.

South of the dining area is the kitchen, designed with big windows for plenty of light. A bright, cheerful yellow is the color of the walls and the counter tops are red. Cabinets are white. A small square opening through the wall to the dining room permits easy use of the telephone from either room.

North of the living room is the master bedroom which is very large, featuring windows on both the north and south corners.

On the west wall of the room are two spacious closets with a recess in the middle for a dresser. Chartreuse green is the prominent color used in the room, accented by the brightly colored curtains.

The nursery belonging to John Jay, who was three months old on Feb. 25, has bright pink walls complemented by white priscilla curtains over the north windows. White bedspread is used as a coverlet over the couch under the north window. The rug is aqua and the wood is light finish.

West of the nursery is the room of Mr. Teten's father, Harvey Teten, Sr. The room features a big closet and a bathroom, which is finished in blue accents of red, black and white.

Here is what I know of the Teten's from a booklet of notes, by Reba (Golden) Teten who married George Carl Teten.

These are the notes and dates writtten by your grandmother, Reba Fern (Golden) Teten about the Teten, Golden, Stalcup, etc. families. I found some names in SSDI and included.
