Hi,
It is really not so much what I know about the Lord marriage and issue, or even that of Elizabeth. Elizabeth was the daughter of William Calvert PSOM who married Elizabeth Stone. I do have somewhere, a report on James Neale and his descent. Let me outline my thoughts.
I know that Isaac Calvert b c1747 is my ancestor, living and having Children in Greene County PA beginning with my Ancestor 1769 Thomas Clare Calvert Sr. Isaac may have married Elizabeth Gart(H) prior to Thomas and it is said that they had one son, William. There are 3 or 4 Isaac Calverts to try to determine what the ancestry is:
One of those is William, Isaac, Alexander Neal 1744/5 1746/7 and 1753 b somerset county MD, Coventry parish to parents Alexander Calvert and Mary Wheeler. Following naming conventions, Mary's father would have been Isaac and Alexander's father would have been William. Indeed, Mary Wheeler's father is Isaac so if it follows, then Alexander's father was a William. There is a William Calvert in court records of Coventry Parish in 1726 and 1733, Planter. He would have been born (presuming alexander
was b 1720 - 25 as the marriage is 1744), about 1690 - 1710. There is a William Calvert of court record being assigned a guardian after 1705. This William is, in mho, the son of William Calvert b 1666, executor of the Will of William Robinson 1696/7 who was the son of William PSOM and Elizabeth Stone, this Wm born England and arrived MD 1662 and took over the property of Leonard Calvert, 3rd Lord, Established missions, and Calverts Hope was his home on Calvert Bay if I recall. He built a home at Piscatway to
address the many problems with Indians of the era and he drowned in the Wicomico R in 1682 trying to ford it in bad weather or high water or perhaps it could have been a small boat.
The Wicomico is the NE boundary of Somerset and if you look at old maps, Coventry parish is te far south end of this eastern shore county.
That is my tie to Elizabeth whom I believe was Betty, B 1756 if I recall in coventry church records along with her
brothers above. There may be two other sisters of Betty as well and perhaps other sons.
Keep in mind this is one theory as the others involve Isaac Calvert of the Daniel Calvert and Deborah Harlan Line(which I do not believe) or another Isaac who may have been son of John who is noted in various texts as not being quaker and likely allied with Maryland Calvert families. there are four Isaac's who are posssible born 1735, 1742, 1747 and 1749. There is another b 1755/6 but he has to be too young to father Thomas b 1769, or if it is he, he had child at
age 14(possible) named Isaac.
I will dig into the various documents I have saved and
come up with what I have. It is not extensive. However, the
marriage to Elizabeth, in my opinion, is documented well enough to establish that. Further, the Son William b 1666
is established and it is documented that William was in executor of a will of WM Robinson as noted, 1796. This leads me to believe that JBC Nicklin stopped researching
this William and possible marriage and Children, wrote
letters to EF O'Gorman about the topic. They even discussed the surname spelling of Colbert. If WM of 1666 dies, then George of 1668 becomes the DuJure line of Calverts which was JBC Nicklin's line.
That is enough for now. I will send along to your email what I know about Elizabeth Calvert and Lord marriages to
James Neale.
Regards,
Dai
