Sorry for the delay getting back to you.Why do I think the "Reid" family came to Canada via Connecticut and New York?Well, for a few reasons but unfortunately no hard proof, as yet.And I could well be wrong.I have a hard copy of the New York 1790 census. In it there are numerous Reid's in the same general area as my Barnum's in New York as well as again in Connecticut as I've done research in that state for my Barnum's.I know that usually groups of families stuck together, especially if their husbands served with the military together and moved about.Alot of research to do.
I have numerous reference books here and have accumulated a fair amount of info on the Reid's but looking for more.Would you consider contacting me off this board, and share info?I've noticed in numerous references to William Reid, UE, that he was a prisoner at one point.Does anyone have documentation to confirm this?Where and when he was held prisoner?
I'm also looking for more info concerning Solomon Reid, William's son.Trying to find that piece of proof that puts my ggg grandmother, Agnes Reid, with this family.Agnes married Caleb Barnum who was living one farm over from Solomon Reid in the early 1800's.Do you know much of this family?
Thanks for your time and look forward to hearing from you.
