Valentine Moyer/Meyer/Myer ? - Holland
Posted by: M. Weston Date: October 04, 1999 at 11:46:59

My g-g-grandfather, Valentine Moyer/Meyer/Myer? was to have come from Holland in 1775 and settled in Berks County, Pennsylvania-USA. He married young irish lady who had been kidnapped along with most of her whole school in Ireland, brought to New York City, USA, sold there to a family near Reading, Pennsylvania-USA. They had 4 children David, Michael, Polly and George F. (I descended from George F. b. 1801 in Berks County, Pennsylvania. He had 2 wives and was to have been the father of 18 children, we have record of last 8 he had. Family moved to Ohio between Carey and Findlay between 1855-1863). I have absolutely no dates or any other information on Valentine & wife & other children, other than what I have put here. I'd like to find more about Valentine and his wife and children David, Michael & Polly, as well as their families. Possibly what occupation George had as well as others. Can anyone offer any help or directions, I'm stuck. Seems there were at least 3 different Valentine Moyer/Myer/Meyer's in Berks County in different time frames. Is Myer/Meyer a Dutch name? It's said, George's children spoke Pennsylvania Dutch when they moved to Ohio. Thanks! Marilyn (Moyer) Weston
